High-Intensity Disability Support Worker – Active Night Shifts
Chatswood NSW 2067 | 1:1 Complex Support | Regular Shifts
Contractor Rate: $40–$50 per hour, based on experience and competencies
Discover Nursing Australia is seeking experienced, reliable and confident Disability Support Workers to join a consistent 1:1 support team for a participant in Chatswood.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Disability Support Worker, AIN or care professional looking for regular active night shifts and the opportunity to further develop their high-intensity support skills with the backing of a nurse-led organisation.
Active Night Shift: 5:45 pm – 6:30 am

Our Disability Support Workers are supported by an experienced Registered Nurse and coordination team, with participant-specific guidance and training provided according to individual support requirements.
About the Role
The participant has complex physical support needs and requires attentive 1:1 assistance throughout the night.
Supports may include:
- PEG feeding and enteral nutrition support.
- Medication assistance via PEG in accordance with the participant's medication plan.
- Oral suctioning.
- Seizure monitoring and management.
- Cough assist.
- Nebuliser support.
- Chest physiotherapy.
- Positioning and repositioning.
- Personal care and comfort support.
- Monitoring the participant's general wellbeing.
- Recognising changes in presentation.
- Following established clinical and emergency management plans.
- Maintaining accurate support documentation and progress notes.
You Don't Need Experience in Everything
We understand that an experienced support worker may have strong competency in some high-intensity supports without having worked with every piece of equipment or procedure listed above.
We particularly want to hear from applicants who already have experience in one or more complex or high-intensity support areas and are willing to undertake participant-specific training and competency assessment where required.
Previous experience with PEG feeding, suctioning, respiratory support or seizure management will be particularly highly regarded.
About You:
We're looking for someone who is:
- Calm and confident under pressure.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Highly observant and attentive.
- Comfortable working active overnight shifts.
- Experienced in disability, complex care or high-intensity support.
- Able to follow detailed care and emergency management plans.
- Able to recognise when something isn't right and escalate appropriately.
- Comfortable providing personal care.
- Able to work independently while knowing when clinical assistance is required.
- Respectful of the participant's dignity, privacy, preferences and family environment.
Experience as a Disability Support Worker, AIN, nursing student, healthcare worker or complex-care worker may be relevant to this position.
What You'll Need:
Applicants must have, or be willing to obtain where applicable:
- Certificate III in Individual Support or equivalent/relevant qualification.
- Relevant disability, healthcare or complex-care experience.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Current National Police Check.
- Current First Aid Certificate.
- Current CPR certification.
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module – Quality, Safety and You.
- Australian working rights.
- ABN or willingness to obtain one.
